The Texas Tech Indoor Classic is an annual men’s college basketball tournament that takes place at the United Supermarkets Arena names Tech Red Raiders team. It is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on the final season record. The first edition of the tournament was held in 2014, with four teams participating until 2016 when it expanded to six teams. From 2018, it will expand to eight teams. The first edition of the tournament was held on February 9–11, 2014.
A total of 8 games were played over three days and each team played one game on each day. The semifinal winners play for the championship and a third-place game is also played in case of a tie at the end of regulation time, with no overtime allowed in this case either. Points scored by an opposing team during its half or period are added to their score; field goals made by an opposing team are not included in their total unless they are made while they are within their shooting range; two points are awarded for every made free throw, and one point is given for every field goal made while they are within their shooting range. If an opposing team scores more points than the home team at any point during the game, the home team receives one point per period (half or clock) that it has been trailing at that moment; if it has been leading at any point during that same period, it does not receive any points. Tournament Format
The Texas Tech Indoor Classic is a single-elimination tournament and seeding is based on the final season record. The two higher seeds are selected third and fourth. The semifinal winners are then pitted against each other in the championship round. If a tie occurs between the two semifinal winners, the higher seed will be chosen to play in the third-place game. The two lowest seeds are now selected to play each other. The two higher seeds are now selected to play each other while the two lowest seeds play against each other. The tournament concludes by choosing the top overall seed to play the lowest overall seed in the championship game.
