Rachel Ross has been working with glass fusing for years. She uses the Pebble Technique, which involves a process of migration of powders and frits. She uses silver foil and many different types of reactive glass combinations to create her beautiful finished pieces. The finished pieces are several layers thick and have gone through the kiln three times. The pieces are then cut to size using a tile saw/diamond blade. They then undergo a final fire polishing in the kiln. She also makes her own bails, which are made from white copper clay and silver metal.

Classes are taught throughout the year. Sign-up sheets are posted and instructors contact those interested in attending. The large glass kiln is available for members to use as needed, or by reservation. Several instructors are available for individual classes, or they will contact you if you wish to take a class. Once you’ve found the right class, sign up today. After all, you’re never too old to learn new skills.

    Slumping

The Fire Arts Arcata in Arcata, California, has been in operation for eight years. Previously, it was called the Brant Electric Company. In 2000, Brant purchased a property on South G Street and started Fire Arts, Inc. Access to Studio

That’s why a core group of artists began searching for a community facility. They were able to find a local nonprofit that would help them get started. There is also a workshop series where you can learn specialized techniques and apply them to your own work. The Fire Arts Arcata depends on the generosity of its members, as well as class and studio fees.

The Arcata community gave feedback on the ASAP, and its goals. The community wanted to make a statement that reflected the needs of its residents.
