The Fire Arts Arcata Center offers a wide range of classes and shows. The studio is located on G Street, right after the Arcata Marsh and Interpretive Center. Open to members and the public, the center is open Monday-Friday 10am 2pm. While classes and demonstrations are awaited, members are encouraged to drop off greenware to be fired. After firing, members can pick up fired pieces from the studio’s shelves.
Members of the center can participate in year-round workshops and classes. Members are encouraged to wear masks while working with fire, and classes are held indoors. Those interested in glass-making can make an appointment to use the glaze room. They can book up to 4 hours of studio time per week. There are two glaze room slots available at once, so if you plan to work on the same project with a friend, book both slots at once.
Membership at the Fire Arts Center also provides discounts on most Fire Arts classes, and is available only when the minimum number of studio members is met. Members of the center benefit from a vital artistic program and a non-competitive environment. Members are expected to help each other, share their knowledge, and foster a collegial atmosphere. It is important to note that Fire Arts Arcata is self-supporting. Income is generated through studio membership fees, private investments, and donations.
